The largest city of Andalucia and the third largest in Spain, Seville is the administrative capital of Andalucia. A lot many civilizations, cultures and historical events have gone into the making of Seville’s history, making it one of the largest historical centers of Europe today. Legend says that it was founded by Hercules, and the land produced was home to more legend like Bizet’s “Carmen”, Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro”; and the fictional legend: Don Juan.

Seville today is a enchanting combination of the ancient and modern. It was the host of the Worlds Fair EXPO 1992, and they city underwent massive transformation during this period. New roads, a new train station and the high speed AVE connecting Seville with Madrid were granted to Seville for the worlds fair. It is the home of several important monuments- some of which are declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

And if all this isn’t enough, experience the Fiesta season in Seville. Famous for its April Fair, or Feria de Abril, Seville is also the place to be for The Holy Week Celebrations, or Semana Santa. These fiestas are celebrated with such vigour and on such a large scale that it is an experience of a lifetime to be here during these times. There is a lot to explore in the city’s quaint, typically Andalucian streets and lanes. The charming and traditional houses and cottages, terraces festooned with flowers and the unhurried pace of life. Time seems to stand still here and you are transformed into another word.
